Bird Lifespan Estimator
Different bird species have very different lifespans, ranging from just a few years to several decades. This Bird Lifespan Estimator helps you understand how long your bird may live and which life stage it’s in right now.
Estimate your bird’s lifespan
Select your bird’s species and current age. The estimator will show:
- Typical lifespan range for that species in captivity
- Current life stage (juvenile, adult, senior)

How to read your results
1. Species matters
A small finch, a cockatiel and a macaw have very different lifespan ranges. Always start with the correct species or closest match.
2. “Average” is not a promise
The estimator gives typical ranges, not guarantees. Some birds will live shorter lives; others can exceed the upper range with excellent care.
3. Use it for planning
Knowing whether your bird is juvenile, adult or senior can guide diet, enrichment, cage size, vet check frequency and long-term commitments.
